  • Defies your expectations. —Seattle Times
  • ZYZZYVA seems completely accessible to any literate soul…with its wide-ranging subject matter [it] is sure to provide something of interest for every reader who has a taste for the new. It deserves a place in academic libraries, with the caveat that its honesty and directness may well offend the priggish. —Serials Review
  • A top-notch omnibus…The regional limitation to West Coast writers is an interesting parameter, setting it apart from the traditions of the East Coast, and promising to tap the deep reservoir of talent along the Pacific. I always find each issue an exciting read, a literate compilation of challenging themes that probe the psyche, avoiding head-on political battles, but nevertheless aware…Exceptional care is taken with the production values, evident in the masterful reproductions of everything from charcoal drawings to calligraphy…All of the visuals provide an enticing frame, wrapping ZYZZYVA in a mysterious cloak, giving us the sensation of a free-floating art complex that is presenting an exhibit of words and pictures unequaled by many literary reviews. —Small Press
  • If you have never subscribed to a little magazine, this is a wonderful place to start. Recommended for all. —Small Press Review
