To Volunteer:
|
- We’re looking for a volunteer who lives in San Francisco and wants to hang out with us one day a week.
- Our chores are tedious, mostly clerical. But we all go out to lunch together, and that can be fun.
- Your main task will be to process manuscripts. You will also help maintain our website. And, we hope, you will want to become a member of our blogteam.
- If you just want to be a manuscript reader, you should try Zoetrope, although they seldom publish anything from the slush pile. Our editor reads every submission, but when a volunteer has finished the current stack of chores, he or she may take a crack at reading as well. A volunteer who does happen upon an exciting, wonderful manuscript is encouraged to leap up and yodel or otherwise alert the editor to what’s been discovered.
- We do not offer internships and, in fact, we do not invite students to volunteer, because we feel students have enough paper work in their daily lives. Also, we feel students should exploit the resources they already have on campus. When students have graduated and are working as temps or waiters, we are happy to hear from them.
